You face disqualification if your total in three years reaches 12 points or more, including the new offence you’ve just been notified about. For new drivers who have passed their test in the last 2 years, the limit is 6 points. Note that points stay on your record for between 4 and 11 years, depending on the offence, but only count towards totting-up for 3 years. Check the dates.
